Scam Alert
Meherrin River Regional Jail (MRRJ) would like to inform the public of a scam that has recently been reported.
MRRJ staff will NEVER contact individuals by phone or any other means to request money in order to place a GPS monitoring device on a pre-trial offender. Any such request is fraudulent.
If you receive a call from someone claiming to represent MRRJ and asking for payment related to inmate release, GPS monitoring, or any similar service:
- Do not provide any personal or financial information
- Hang up immediately
- Report the incident to your local law enforcement agency
MRRJ remains committed to the safety and protection of our community and appreciates your vigilance in helping prevent fraud.

Being in jail is never easy for the offender in jail or the family; however, a hot meal ‘just like at home’ is a simple way to remind your loved one that you care and are thinking of them.
